Product Overview

Product positioning: VIPC616 is a 6U VMEbus specification four slot Industry Pack (IP) carrier board launched by SBS Technologies. It belongs to the modular I/O component series and is the basic version of the enhanced VIPC618. The two are 100% software compatible.

Core function: Provide mechanical installation structure and electrical interface for VME backboards and IndustriePack modules, supporting full functionality of module I/O, ID, memory, and interrupts. Document version is Revision 4 C95158, released on November 19, 1999.

Core difference (compared to VIPC618): VIPC616 front unshielded right angle ribbon cable connector without locking buckle; VIPC618 adopts a shielded 50 pin miniature D connector with a lock buckle, which can significantly reduce EMI radiation.

Compliance standards

VME bus: compliant with IEEE P-1024/D1.2 specifications;

Industry Pack: Compliant with ANSI/VITA-4 1995 Industry Pack Specification.

Slot capability: Equipped with 4 Industry Pack slots, it can flexibly accommodate 4 single width IP modules or 2 double width IP modules.

IP module limitation: Only supports 8MHz IP modules, supports IO, ID, memory, interrupt response cycle, and does not support 32-bit interfaces and Industry Pack DMA functionality.

I/O interface configuration

Front panel I/O: Every 2 IP slots are equipped with 1 pair of 50 pin angled ribbon cable connectors with keys and shields, with pop-up hardware;

Backplane P2 I/O: Provides 64 backplane I/O channels, with all 50 I/O pins in the D slot routed to rows A and C of the VMEbus P2. The C slot can be configured with 14 pins routed to that location, and most of the I/O signals in the C/D slot are routed to the P2 connector, enhancing the flexibility of chassis wiring.

Interruption capability

Each IP slot can generate up to 2 interrupt requests, with a total of 8 interrupt request lines for 4 slots;

The 8-channel request line can be paired with 7 interrupt request levels of VMEbus through simple jumper blocks, and can also be installed with user provided PLD chips to achieve any complex interrupt mapping, supporting customized IRQ configuration.

Status indication: equipped with visual LED indicator lights, supporting operation status verification

1 green access LED per slot: displays the access activity of the corresponding IP slot;

Two green power LEDs: display the power status of slots A/B and C/D respectively.

Hardware protection and electrical parameters

Hardware protection measures

Fuse protection: Each IP slot is equipped with one * *+5 VDC 3A fuse * *, and one 3A main fuse for each+12 VDC and -12 VDC;

Circuit protection: 2 power detection circuits that can detect fuse burnout and line faults in any IP slot;

Signal processing: All IP power lines are equipped with RF filtering and decoupling capacitors to enhance stability.
