Product Overview
Product positioning: VIPC616 is a 6U VMEbus four slot Industry Pack (IP) carrier board launched by SBS Technologies. It belongs to the modular I/O component series and is the basic version of the enhanced VIPC618. The two are 100% software compatible. Its core function is to provide mechanical installation structure and electrical signal interface for VME backboards and IP modules.
Core difference (compared to VIPC618): VIPC616 front unshielded 50 pin right angle ribbon cable connector with no locking buckle design; VIPC618 adopts a shielded 50 pin miniature D connector with a lock buckle, which can significantly reduce EMI radiation and is an enhanced version of VIPC616.

VME bus: strictly compliant with IEEE P-1024/D1.2 specifications;
Industry Pack: Compliant with ANSI/VITA-4 1995 official specifications.
Slot capability: Onboard with 4 Industry Pack slots, supports flexible configuration, and can accommodate 4 single width IP modules or 2 double width IP modules.
IP module usage restrictions: Only supports IP modules with an operating frequency of 8MHz, supports IO, ID, memory, interrupt response cycle, and does not support 32-bit interfaces and Industry Pack DMA function, which is an inherent hardware limitation.
I/O interface and address space mapping
Dual I/O interface configuration
Front panel I/O: using unshielded 50 pin key and shielded right angle ribbon cable connectors, with 1 pair of connectors for every 2 IP slots, and equipped with pop-up hardware to achieve front I/O expansion;
Backplane P2 I/O: 64 I/O signals are provided through the VMEbus P2 backplane, with all 50 I/O pins in slot D routed to rows A and C of P2, and 14 pins in slot C configured to be routed to that position. Most of the I/O signals in slots C and D are routed to the P2 connector, greatly improving the flexibility of internal wiring in the chassis.
Address space mapping: All space capacity and mapping rules strictly follow the industrial package specifications, supporting dual level access for users and administrators, and supporting * * read modify write (test and set) * * operations. Core functional characteristics
Interrupt function
Interrupt generation: Each IP slot can independently generate up to 2 interrupt requests, and a total of 8 interrupt request lines can be generated from 4 slots;
Interrupt Mapping: 8 request lines can be paired one-to-one with 7 interrupt request levels of VMEbus through simple jumper blocks. Users can also install their own PLD chips to achieve any complex custom interrupt mapping and support personalized IRQ configuration.
Visual status indication: Multiple green LED indicators are installed on the board to achieve real-time verification of the working status. The specific configuration is: 1 access LED per slot to display the read and write access activities of the corresponding IP slot; Two power monitoring LEDs display the power status of A/B slot group and C/D slot group respectively.
Hardware protection and stability
Fuse protection: Each IP slot is equipped with * *+5 VDC 3A dedicated fuse * *, and+12 VDC and -12 VDC are each equipped with 1 3A main fuse to achieve overcurrent protection;
Fault detection: Equipped with 2 built-in power detection circuits, it can detect fuse burnout and line faults in any IP slot in real time, and provide timely feedback on hardware issues;
Signal optimization: All IP module power lines are equipped with RF filtering circuits and decoupling capacitors, effectively reducing electromagnetic interference and improving power supply stability.

Physical specifications: The appearance is 6U VME standard, with dimensions of 160 mm × 233.35 mm and a weight of 0.34 kg (0.81 lb), suitable for installation in standard 6U VME chassis;
Electrical power consumption: The typical operating power consumption is * *+5 VDC 610 mA * *, and the typical power consumption for+12 VDC and -12 VDC is 0 mA. The IP module generates additional power consumption during operation, which is uniformly powered by the carrier board;
Environmental parameters: Suitable for industrial use environment, working temperature: 0~70 ° C, working humidity: 5~95% (non condensing); Storage temperature: -40~+85 ° C, meeting the needs of high and low temperature storage and operation.
