SolaHD SDN-D series rail mounted high-performance power supply

Product Overview

SDN-D is a compact high-performance DIN rail switching power supply launched by Emerson SolaHD, designed for harsh industrial environments and hazardous locations. It is 31% smaller in size than the previous generation SDN-C and has no fan for natural cooling.

Key issues

Question 1: What are the effects of SDN-D’s 120% continuous power boost, 1.5 times startup current, and 6 times peak current?

answer

120% continuous improvement: meets long-term light load upgrades or short-term expansion needs, stable output at ≤ 50 ℃, without the need to replace larger power supplies.

1.5 times/4 seconds: Specially designed to drive high starting impact inductive loads (motors, solenoid valves) to ensure smooth start-up.

6 times/15ms: Provides peak current for fault breaking, quickly fuses downstream fuses in case of output short circuit, achieving selective protection.

Question 2: How does SDN-D reduce its power capacity in high temperature environments (60-70 ℃)? What are the differences among the three models?

Answer: All models experience a linear derating starting from 60 ℃ and reaching the lower limit at 70 ℃

10A (240W): Reduced to 216W (decreased by 10%)

20A (480W): Reduced to 360W (25% decrease)

40A (960W): Reduced to 720W (25% decrease)

Low power models have less capacity reduction and are more suitable for high-temperature enclosed cabinets.

Question 3: What are the levels of diagnostic capabilities of SDN-D? What scenarios are they applicable to?

The answer is divided into three levels of diagnosis:

Basic level: Dual color LED indicator light, quick on-site judgment of operation/malfunction.

Entering the class: DC OK relay, connected to PLC for remote dry contact alarm.

Network level: SCM communication module, which uploads voltage, current, temperature, and event logs through the bus, suitable for centralized monitoring in digital factories.
