Honeywell Expert Series-C I/O Module

Basic Information

1. Positioning

Targeting engineering design, selection, and debugging personnel, covering the electrical, channel, base size, redundancy scheme, hardware function, and selection comparison table of the entire Series-C series IO module; Only for use with the accompanying C300 controller.

2. Definition of Terms

-IOM: IO electronic module, plugged into the IOTA base to complete signal acquisition/output;

-IOTA: On site terminal base, integrated wiring terminal, circuit power supply, bus link, redundant expansion, divided into * * non redundant/redundant * * two specifications.

3. Advantages of Universal Machine Core Design

1. Integrated IOM+IOTA architecture, no need for independent chassis, smaller cabinet footprint;

2. Double layer detachable on-site terminals, convenient for wiring and maintenance;

3. IOTA comes with a 24V on-site circuit power supply, eliminating the need for external distributors and jumper wires;

4. Redundancy only requires the stacking of a second IOM, without the need for additional redundant controllers/cables;

5. Tilted heat dissipation structure, high-density deployment of cabinets without heat accumulation;

6. All IO channels are equipped with built-in short-circuit protection, eliminating the need for external fuses and reducing construction and maintenance costs;

7. A standard control cabinet vertically installed to accommodate up and down incoming and outgoing cables;

8. The panel status indicator light quickly locates the fault.

4. Base size standard

Unified inch size conversion: 6in (152mm), 9in (228mm), 12in (304mm), 18in (457mm);

-Analog standard non redundant 6-in, redundant 12 in;

-Discrete standard non redundant 9in, redundant 12in;

-Universal IO non redundant 9/12 in, redundant 12/18 in.

Classification of the entire series of IO modules and basic channel capabilities

The modules are divided into 6 categories, each of which comes with a dedicated IOTA base and supports redundant/non redundant configurations:

1. Analog input AI (16 channels/block)

1. CC-PAIH01/02: Equipped with HART, supports single ended/differential 4-20mA/voltage, 16 bit ADC

2. CC-PAIH51: Simplified HART, only 4-20mA single ended current, no voltage input

3. CC-PAIX01/02: No HART, compatible with current/voltage, supports differential channels

4. CC-PAIN01: No HART, only 4-20mA single ended

5. CC-PAIM01: Multi channel temperature multiplexer (64 channel TC/RTD), external FTA terminal board

6. CC-PAIL51: Directly connected to 16 channel TC/RTD, no external FTA required

AI universal performance: 16 bit analog-to-digital conversion, 50ms scanning cycle, -6~+5V common mode voltage, 70dB power frequency common mode suppression; Intrinsic safety circuit power supply, Class1 Div2 explosion-proof rating, wire breakage detection function.

2. Analog output AO (16 channels/block)

1. CC-PAOH01: Standard HART 4-20mA output

2. CC-PAOH51: Simplified HART version

3. CC-PAOX01: No HART analog output

4. CC-PAON01: Economy type without HART output

AO universal features: single channel independent fault safety mode (hold/safe value), disconnection diagnosis, maximum 800 Ω load, 80ms stable establishment time, redundant switching maximum 10ms output gap.

3. Pulse input PI (CC-PPIX01, 8 channels)

Support flow measurement, trade handover measurement, compatible with single/dual pulse signals, up to 100kHz; Supports ISO6551 measurement fidelity standard, with fast cut-off relay output, high-precision frequency measurement from 0.5Hz ± 0.001%, supports pulse accumulation, pulse width/cycle acquisition.

4. Digital input DI (32 channels/block)

1. CC-PDIL01:24VDC ordinary DI with wire breakage detection

2. CC-PDIL51: 24VDC economical DI, no wire breakage detection

3. CC-PBIS01: SOE event sequence recording, 1ms timestamp resolution

4. CC-PDIH01: High voltage DI, supports 110VAC/125VDC/220VAC industrial switch signals

All inputs are optically isolated, with a 5ms filtering delay, distinguishing between active and passive field circuits.

5. Digital output DO (32 channels/block)

1. CC-PDOB01:24V solid state output with no fuse short circuit protection; Can be paired with relay IOTA base to achieve dry contact output (NO/NC can be switched by jumper, 3A resistive load)

2. CC-PDOD51:24V leakage type solid-state output with overcurrent protection

Support pulse width modulation, pulse, self-locking output, and single channel independent fault safety status.

6. Universal multifunctional IO PUIO (32 channels, programmable hybrid IO)

1. CC-PUIO01: Wide temperature type, channel free configuration AI/AO/DI/pulse, HART7

2. CC-PUIO31: Enhanced SOE version, supports 1ms event timing, with a maximum pulse frequency of 15kHz

Core advantage: Single module replaces multiple specialized IOs, reducing the variety of spare parts; All channels have short-circuit self-protection, support Zone2 explosion-proof, and have a minimum scanning speed of 10ms.

Detailed electrical and functional specifications for various modules

(1) Temperature acquisition module (thermocouple/thermistor)

1. CC-PAIM01 (64 channel multiplexing): up to 4 16 channel FTA expansion boards, supporting J/K/E/T/B/S/R type thermocouples, Pt100/Ni/Cu thermal resistors, 1-second full channel scanning, 120dB power frequency suppression, remote cold end compensation; The longest cable is 1000 feet.

2. CC-PAIL51 (16 channel direct procurement): No external terminal board required, independent channel isolation, supports wire breakage alarm, working temperature -40~70 ℃.

(2) Pulse input CC-PPIX01

Differential optocoupler isolation, 0~100kHz single pulse/0~10kHz double pulse; The threshold can be selected from two levels: 2.8V/8.4V; Built in 2-channel solid-state cut-off output, 1ms cut-off response, compatible with MeterSuite suite for oil and gas trade metering systems.

(3) SOE event input CC-PBIS01

32 channels of 24V DI, three scanning modes: normal 20ms, fast 5ms, SOE high-precision 1ms timestamp; Factory trip and interlock timing traceability dedicated, optical isolation withstand voltage 1500VAC.

(4) High voltage digital input CC-PDIH01

There are two types of IOTA bases, 110V and 220V, which are compatible with distribution cabinets and high-power switch feedback. The input is isolated from 1500VAC and filtered for 25ms to prevent shaking.

(5) Highlights of Universal PUIO Module

Single channel software switching between AI (4-20mA)/AO (4-20mA)/DI/pulse; The CC-PUIO31 pulse channel can reach 15kHz, and the AO response is as fast as 0.25ms; all channels are short circuited with 2 μ s current limiting protection, which will not damage the module or affect other channels.

1. Short circuit protection: All analog/digital channels are equipped with electronic current limiting, without the need for external fuses. Short circuits only cause the faulty channel to shut down, while the rest operate normally;

2. Wire breakage detection OWD: AI/AO/standard DI supports circuit wire breakage diagnosis and reports channel soft faults;

3. Fault safety FAILOPT: All output channels can be configured with fault status (maintain current value/output safe current/turn off);

4. Hardware self diagnosis: continuous self check during power on/operation, including overheating, overcurrent, open circuit, and bus faults;

5. Intrinsic safety explosion-proof: AI/PUI analog circuits meet Class1 Div2 requirements and are suitable for chemical and oil and gas hazardous areas.
