Core safety functions and fault handling

1. Security features

Security Level Certification: SIL 3(IEC 61508/61511/62061)、Cat.4/PL e(EN ISO 13849-1)、SIL 4(EN 50126/50128/50129), Support Zone 2 hazardous area installation (ATEX certification).

Line control: Can be configured with short circuit/open circuit detection (SC/OC), linked with DI channel through DO channel pulse signal, adapted to Cat. 4 emergency stop input.

Fault safety shutdown:

Input fault: When a fault is detected, the input signal is processed as a low level according to the principle of “power-off trip”, and the FAULT LED is activated.

Output fault: When a single channel fails, the channel switches to a power-off safe state; When the device malfunctions, all outputs are turned off and the FAULT LED is activated.

2. LED indicator light function

LED type name status meaning

Power supply LED 24VDC (green) on/off 24VDC power supply normal/no power supply

System LED RUN (green) on/flashing/off Normal operation/shutdown/non operating status

System LED ERROR (red) on/flashing/off Error shutdown/OS malfunction/no malfunction

System LED FAULT (yellow) on/flashing/off configuration invalid/OS download fault/I/O fault/no fault

Communication LED green (RJ-45) on/flashing/off Full duplex/Conflict/Half duplex no conflict

Communication LED yellow (RJ-45) on/flashing/off, connection valid/interface active/no connection

I/O LED DI 1-20 (yellow) on/off Input activated (powered on)/Input inactive (powered off)

I/O LED DO 1-8 (yellow) on/off, output activated (powered on)/output inactive (powered off)

Installation and configuration process

1. Installation requirements

Mechanical installation: 35mm DIN rail installation, separate signal cables from power cables to avoid interference.

Special installation requirements for Zone 2: It needs to be installed in an IP54 protection level enclosure (EN 60529), and the enclosure should be labeled with “power-off operation only”; The shell needs to effectively dissipate heat (module power consumption of 9-25W); The power supply needs to be PELV/SELV safe low voltage.

Wiring specifications:

Input wiring: 5 sets of independent LS+power supply (corresponding to DI 1~4/5~8/9~12/13~16/17~20), each set corresponds to L – grounding.

Output wiring: 2 sets of independent L – grounded (corresponding to DO 1~4/5~8), load connection requires 2-pole wiring, and it is recommended to parallel protect diodes for inductive loads.

2. Configuration process

Programming tool configuration entrance core operations

SILworX hardware editor 1. Module recognition (CPU/DI 20/DO 8); 2. Assign global variables; 3. Configure parameters such as input pulse channel and delay time

ELOP II Factory Signal Editor 1. Define system signals; 2. Allocate I/O channel signals; 3. Configure the number of pulse outputs, pulse slots, etc

3. Reset operation

Only models without protective coating are equipped with a reset button (circular hole 5cm on the left side of the housing), which needs to be operated with insulated pins.

Reset process: Press and hold the reset button → restart the module → hold for 20 seconds → release. After resetting, the IP address (default 192.168.0.99) and system ID will be restored to default, and only the administrator account will be activated (empty password).

Maintenance and disposal

Maintenance requirements: Normal operation does not require routine maintenance. In case of malfunction, the same model or HIMA approved replacement module must be replaced; Verification testing must be performed every 10 years (refer to safety manual HI 800 023 E); The operating system can be upgraded through programming tools (with the module in STOP state).

Transportation and storage: Use original packaging for transportation and storage to avoid static electricity and mechanical damage.

Disposal process: power outage → removal of power/signal/Ethernet cables → ecological recycling (disposal agreement can be signed with HIMA).
