EATON Series C Plastic Case Circuit Breaker and Motor Circuit Protector

Product Basic Core Information

Product type and number of poles: MCP is divided into GMCP (3 poles), HMCP (3 poles), HMCPS (2 poles), and is an instantaneous trip type motor circuit protector. It is a UL approved component (UL File E7819).

Rated and adaptable: The rated current covers 3A-1200A and is compatible with NEMA 0 to 8 level motor starters; The interrupt rating depends on the accompanying starter and has no independent fixed value.

Certification standards: Complies with UL 489, Canadian CSA C22.2 No.5.1, and international IEC 157-1 standards, with CE certification on the product nameplate.

Core design: Innovative design of internal components to enhance the interrupt rating of MCP starter combination, and product identification to guide its correct electrical application within the rated range of the equipment.

Model designation rules

The MCP model consists of product type+continuous ampere rating+magnetic trip range/NEMA starter size+terminal suffix, which is an optional configuration. The core programming rules and key parameters are shown in the table below:

table

Product Type Continuous Ampere Rating (Partial) Magnetic Release Range/Starter Size (Example) Terminal Suffix and Meaning

HMCP 003/007/015/030/050/1200, A0=9-30/0, H1=90-300/1, Y8=2400-9600/8 (electronic), C=non aluminum terminal; W=no terminal; X=load terminal only; Y=Only line terminals; No suffix=standard wire/load terminal

GMCP 003/007/015/030/060/063, A0=15-30/0, H1=150-300/1, M2=320-630/2 C=non aluminum terminals (GMCP only has this suffix)

HMCPS is consistent with HMCP, and HMCP is consistent with HMCP

Note: The S suffix of HMCP is only available for 150A frames and is for stainless steel terminals.

Core Selection Parameter Table

The document provides selection tables for two main frames, G-Frame and F-Frame, clarifying the MCP models and trip settings corresponding to different voltages, starter sizes, and motor FLA. The core frame parameters are as follows:

G-Frame

Voltage specifications: maximum 480Vac, 600Y/347Vac;

Compatible products: GMCP 3A-63A;

Terminal configuration: Both the wire and load sides are copper steel terminals, only suitable for copper wires.

F-Frame

Voltage specifications: maximum 600Vac, 250Vdc;

Compatible products: HMCP, HMCPS full series, including conventional MCP, low magnetic protection dedicated MCP, and HMCPS compatible with electronic overload relays;

Core sub table:

Conventional MCP: covering NEMA 0-4 level starters, rated current 3A-150A;

Low magnetic protection MCP: compatible with 25A/50A/70A/100A ratings, with a lower trip value than conventional models;

HMCPS adaptation: Corresponding to conventional MCP parameters, it is a 2-pole design and compatible with motor starters with electronic overload relays.

Key selection rules

The motor full load current (FLA) is a typical value, and the MCP trip setting value is 13 times the minimum FLA of the motor in the table; If the FLA value in the middle needs to be tripped by 13 times, the cam setting/MCP rating needs to be replaced.

DC application: The actual trip value is about 40% higher than the value in the table.

Electrical specification: According to NEC Article 430-110 (a), the rated ampere value of the disconnecting device is ≥ 115% of the motor FLA.

Special setting: Configuration with a trip value exceeding 100A is only applicable to special application scenarios.

Attachment supporting information

The attachments are divided into internal attachments and external attachments, and GMCP and HMCP attachments are not interchangeable. The core information is as follows:

GMCP attachment

Internal accessories: can only be installed in the factory, and up to one can be installed, including shunt release (model 1373D62G18, etc.), no undervoltage release (UVR) optional;

External accessories: including padlockless lock buckle (624B375G23), DIN rail adapter (1294C01H01, compatible with 35mm DIN EN50022 rail), depth changing handle mechanism (HRGMV11L/HRGMV14L, etc., only compatible with GMCP);

Handle mechanism: divided into Type 1/3R/4X/12 protection levels, available in black gray/red yellow color schemes.

HMCP attachments: Internal attachments should refer to pages 12-217 of the document, which does not provide detailed information in this chapter.

Terminal configuration standard

The MCP series terminals are made of steel material and have fixed configurations for different rated currents without additional options. The specific details are:

GMCP 3A-63A: Copper steel terminal on wire/load side;

HMCP/HMCPS 3A-100A: 3T100FB steel terminal on wire/load side;

HMCP/HMCPS 150A: 3T150FB steel terminal on the wire/load side.
