EATON ELPRO 245U-E series industrial wireless Ethernet products

Product positioning and basic information

The ELPRO 245U-E series is the core product of the ELPRO Industrial Wireless Ethernet product series, which focuses on reliable and secure wireless communication solutions in industrial scenarios. It belongs to COOPER Crouse Hinds, a subsidiary of MTL Instruments Group.

There are two core models, both with a basic transmission power of 400mW:

245U-E-G: 2.412-2.462GHz frequency band, compatible with 802.11b/g;

245U-E-A: 5.20-5.825GHz frequency band, compatible with 802.11a, released in the first quarter of 2009.

The core transmission capacity is 54Mbps (1-54Mbps configurable), providing lifetime warranty and 24-hour technical support. The product has passed ISO 9001:2000 quality certification.

Wireless and network functions

Support WDS (AP-AP) multi hop relay, expandable wireless coverage range; Capable of generating tree self-healing function, automatically switching redundant links in case of network failure to ensure communication continuity.

Integrate multiple modes of bridging/routing, Access Point/client to reduce inventory costs of industrial field equipment; Supports point-to-point and point to multipoint broadcast/control modes.

Equipped with DHCP automatic IP addressing capability, it can quickly add expansion modules and simplify system networking.

Protocol and serial port function

Built in Modbus TCP to Modbus RTU gateway/Modbus master, enabling industrial I/O data transmission and supporting independent Modbus master-slave functionality within the network.

Provide serial port client/server/multicast function, support simultaneous connection of RJ45 and RS232/485, maximum transmission distance of RS485 is 1.2km, and serial port baud rate can be configured in multiple levels (1200-230400).

Supports a wide range of network protocols, including TCP/IP, UDP, ARP, SNMP, DHCP, DNS, and more.

Security protection capability

Adopting hardware encryption to ensure lossless data throughput, it supports up to WPA2 PSK/802.11i-802.1x military grade encryption and is compatible with 64/128 bit WEP.

Equipped with MAC address/IP address/ARP filtering, supporting black and white list settings, reducing invalid network traffic, and enhancing network security.

Configuration and diagnostic capabilities

The entire network supports online diagnosis and configuration, with user configuration through embedded web pages and default URL access.

Provide diagnostic information such as RSSI signal strength measurement, system logs, connection statistics, and LED status indicators (power/OK, RX, TX/Link, etc.) for easy fault analysis.

This series of products is designed specifically for industrial processes and automation scenarios, with core applications including:

Industrial monitoring, control and reporting: oil and gas field production/distribution, mining vehicle diagnosis, traffic management, water conservancy/sewage treatment SCADA system;

Note: The maximum transmission power limit for modules shipped in Europe/South Africa is 100mW, and each product frequency band is configured according to national regulations.

System design advantages

Support WDS+spanning tree self-healing mesh network. In case of on-site single point failure (such as AP power outage), network traffic will be automatically forwarded through redundant APs to ensure uninterrupted communication between LANs;

Seamless conversion between serial port and Ethernet enables bidirectional data transmission between on-site devices and remote LAN. Modbus master AP can actively poll slave I/O data;

The online diagnosis and configuration function runs through the entire network, assisting system design and fault analysis. Module expansion does not require complex configuration, and DHCP automatically assigns IP addresses.
