Hardware installation and maintenance operations

Electrostatic sensitivity! All disassembly and assembly operations must be carried out with anti-static wristbands and anti-static pads, and the module must be completely powered off.

1. Chassis installation: PXI chassis slot 1 (zero slot controller position) must be inserted; Align the guide rail and slide it in. Pull the red locking handle to fully engage the backplane connector, and tighten the four fixing screws on the panel.

2. Hard drive/SSD replacement: Remove the 5 fixing screws from the hard drive bracket, remove the 4 fixing screws at the four corners of the hard drive, replace the 2.5 “SATA drive, and restore it in reverse.

3. RTC button battery replacement: Cut off the power and remove the module. Use a small flathead screwdriver to pry open the battery buckle; **Install CR2032 with the positive pole facing upwards.

4. Clear CMOS (system crash, BIOS exception)

1) Power off the entire machine, remove the controller module; Set SW1 to the Clear position and hold for 5 seconds, then switch back to Normal;

2) Reinstall the computer case and press’ Del/Sc ‘to enter the BIOS when booting up; F9 loading optimization default values; Modify the system date and time; F10 Save Exit.

5. System installation : Supports USB flash drives, USB optical drives, and USB external hard drives as boot media, and BIOS modification of boot sequence.

Driver installation

Windows 10 comes with some basic drivers; All drivers can be downloaded from the PXIe-3988 product page on the official website of Linghua.

List of components to be installed:

-Chipset driver, graphics card driver, Ethernet driver, Intel ME driver, Intel RST driver;

-GPIB driver, * * PXI Trigger I/O trigger driver * *;

Optional supporting tools: MAPS Core suite, PXI platform services.

Appendix A PXI Trigger I/O Function Library

The header file ‘pitrigio. h’ supports C/C++, VB, and Delphi, and implements signal routing and software triggering between the SMB external trigger connector and the PXI backplane TRIG0-TRIG7 trigger bus.

Function List:

1. TRIG_Init(): Hardware initialization, * * must be executed before all other API calls are triggered;

2. TRIG_Close(): The program exits the call and releases hardware resources;

3. TRIG_SETSoftTrg (U8 Status): Software output TTL trigger level (0 low/1 high);

4. ‘TRIG_Trigger_Soute (source, dest, halfway)’: Configure the trigger signal routing, and select SMB connector, software trigger source, and TRIG0-TRIG7 as the source and destination;

5. TRIG_Trigger_Clear(): Clear all trigger routing configurations;

6. ‘TRIG_Gets SoftTrg (&Status)’: Read the current software trigger level;

7. TRIG_Trigger_Soute_Query (&source,&dest,&halfway): Query the current routing configuration;

8. ‘TRIG_dDriverRevision (&hero,&mir1,&mir2)’: Read the driver version number.

Appendix B BIOS Settings (Important Differences from 3987 Series)

Enter BIOS: Press’ Del ‘or’ Esc ‘to power on/restart;

BIOS hotkeys: F1 Help, F8 Load Last Configuration, F9 Restore Factory Optimized Default, F10 Save Exit.

Significant difference: The PXIe-3988 BIOS has added a separate top-level menu called ‘Chipset’ (which is not available in the 3987 series), which separates the System Agent (SA) and PCH-IO sub items.

Top five BIOS menus:

1. Main: Read only system information (BIOS version CPU、 Memory, PXIe link configuration, serial number, MAC address, power on statistics, startup reason), set system date and time.

2. Advanced: CPU configuration (hyper threading, virtualization VT-d, SpeedStep, Turbo, C-States, configurable TDP); Memory and graphics card; USB; TPM2.0; Onboard equipment (serial port mode, network port switch); PCIe configuration; Advanced power management; Network Stack PXE; System management; Power consumption monitoring; Hardware health; **PXIe link rate configuration * *.

3. Chipset (adds top-level menu)

-System Agent (SA) configuration: PCIe root port settings;

-PCH-IO configuration: PCIe clock gating, SATA/RST storage mode (AHCI/IDE), hot swappable, SATA device type selection HDD/SSD.

4. Security: Administrator/user password, Secure Boot security boot switch.

5. Boot: Start configuration; CSM compatible module; **Factory default UEFI boot mode * *; Can switch to Legacy traditional BIOS startup; Set the priority for starting devices.

6. Save&Exit: Save/discard modifications, restore default, temporarily start item override.

Legacy Traditional Startup Mode Operation

1. Enter BIOS ->Boot, set Boot mode select to LEGACY;

2. Open ‘CSM Support’ from the CSM submenu; All Network/Storage/Video/Other PCI devices are set to Legacy;

3. F10 save and restart; Restore UEFI directly by loading factory default on F9 and saving on F10.

Appendix C Dual BIOS Backup Mechanism

The motherboard is equipped with a main BIOS and a backup BIOS independent controller. When the main BIOS is damaged (BIOS upgrade failure, etc.), the hardware automatically switches to backup BIOS to complete startup; The boot screen will prompt that the backup BIOS is currently in use. To restore the main BIOS firmware, it is necessary to contact Linghua technical support, as it cannot be repaired locally by the user.

Appendix D Legacy Boot Mode Settings

For detailed steps, please refer to the BIOS section, which provides the complete operation process for enabling and restoring UEFI using Legacy.
